Christmas Blues

The holidays are difficult for anyone who has lost a loved one, be it a father, a mother, a dear friend, etc. When I think of Christmas, it's impossible not to remember my beloved twin, Rhiannon. Like all children, we loved Christmas; however, it was magical for her even when we became young adults. I think she probably loved giving gifts better than she liked receiving them. Her enthusiasm for the holiday was infectious and one couldn't help but get into the spirit of the season when she was around.

Remembering those good times help but it's not a cure-all. The other day, I re-watched one of her favorite Christmas movies called, One Magic Christmas. She loved it because it had an angel in it (as many of you know, she loved any stories involving angels) but it irked me so much. Sometimes I wish life could be like the movies, but I know that's just silly nonsense. On a more realistic note, I'd love to have a nice Christmas dream about Rhiannon. It might perk me up a bit.

Some of Rhiannon's favorite Christmas movies include:

  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • A Bishop's Wife
  • One Magic Christmas
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • Meet Me in St. Louis
  • A Miracle on 34th Street (but she liked that remake - bleh)
I try and watch as many of them as I can.

Anyway, one of my resolutions is to try and write more about her. I think it's good therapy. Of course I'll write about other things in this blog. It won't just be my endless ramblings about Rhiannon and the memories that are all that is left for me.
